Its Lambing time at Smith Farms

Brei Holmes started off this lambing season by having two stunning ram lambs on Tuesday.

These two are quite lovely and I am excited to see if they will have the same stunning, crimpy fleece their father has.

Today I was surprised when I found Shillelagh with a little lamb by her side. I thought for sure she was a week or two off yet as she wasn't very big at all.

She has always been the kids favorite and you can see why- she is extremely laid back and friendly..she loves the kids.

Somewhere through the course of the year she lost all her lovely black!!

So the count today is 3 lambs - 3 boys! Only 2 girls to go.

It's to early to plant, It's to early to plant, It's to early to plant!

It's March 13th and we are having record high temps in Illinois. 72 degrees today and a high of 76 tomorrow!! I think much of the country is enjoying this unseasonably warm weather. It's really hard to be patient when its this nice out.

I spotted this in the garden today. Volunteer spinach!

Heck, its almost ready to harvest.

I'm  a little concerned what affect this warm weather will have on us later, but I'm going to enjoy it, never the less!

Another little Girl arrives!

This is so exciting!

Sunday morning- I found Esther having just given birth to a little ewe lamb.

I guess my girls have decided that I don't need to be there when they have their babies. They are all first time mothers and doing very well without any help from me.

I was wanting a white ewe- is she white?

Spring began yesterday-

I have always liked spring- but  I think it has to Now be my favorite time of year.

What is your favorite time of year??

And what do you think we should name this little girl who was born on the first day of Spring?

I am feeling immensely blessed these days!!
